Humid Telepathy

An essay that brings together research on water ecologies, digital technology, and telepathic practices through the work of Juan Downey, Bárbara Santos, and the author’s own. Exploring water as a portal to connect with what is radically distant and different, the essay develops the concept of “humid telepathy” — a form of communication rooted in moisture, intuition, and interdependence — as a counterpoint to the extractive logics that structure both digital networks and the coloniality of knowledge. Published in English as a chapter in Digging Earth: Extractivism and Resistance on Indigenous Lands of the Americas, ed. Catherine Bernard, Ethics Press, Cambridge, 2024.
